I’d like to talk about a movie called Wolf Warriors.
It tells a story of a soldier called Leng Feng who’s no longer on duty, well to be exact, who’s was discharged because he broke some kind of rules. And his fiancé was also a soldier, but she died when she was on a mission in Africa. He spent the last threes years in Africa trying to hunt down the bad guys who killed his girl, but accidentally, he was trapped in a rebellion. The Chinese rescue team showed up immediately, but without the permission of the UN, Chinese soldiers couldn’t step in the area where the riot broke out. So as a civilian, he offered to risk his life to save the rest of Chinese who were left behind in Africa.
And the rest of the movie was basically all about how he fought with the rebel forces and how he heroically saved everybody.
At the end of the movie, a Chinese passport showed up on the screen, saying “Chinese citizens, when you are in danger in a foreign country, don’t panic, don’t give up, just remember, your country will always be there protecting you and taking you back home.”
When I was watching this movie, lots of people in the movie theater were moved to tears. And this movie has been a critical and commercial success. I mean, it has received generally positive reviews from critics and audience.
But personally, I think it’s a little exaggerated, ‘cause one man knocking down a whole army is just mission impossible. But then again, I have to admit the special effects and fight scenes were pretty thrilling.
